Wow, this is really excellent! Rodney invents the golden mean! Great drawing and likenesses, and I do love the strategically placed easel *g*.

You tease! But I love it, especially the expression on John's face.

Heh, thanks. I am a tease. But less so on my own journal.

Darn that easel! This is great!

Hee! Thanks.

(And if you're really annoyed at the easel, there's always this version.) Link NSFW. ;D

"Vitruvian Sheppard"! This is wonderful and I love the way you've captured John's little smirk and Rodney's slight blush. Lovely!

Thank you! Couldn't resist the smirk and the blush. ;D

Oh, that's great work and I *think* I know who has created it. :-)

Somehow I think they're still in the "flirting"-phase. John's "not-quite-there"-grin and Rodneyangelos's "smiling to himself" just gives that vibe.

And the strategically placed corner of the easel? Highly amusing. *G*

I really like this very much.

This is beautifully drawn & also so much fun - from John's little smirk to the strategic placing of the easel. *g*

eeeeeeee, ohh, I love it. I love the implication that Rodney's Da Vinci, and I love the lines of John's body, and the little smirk on his face (AND HIS HAIR. I love his hair!)

Wheee ♥

*beams and beams*

There's really nothing like drawing with Leonardo as your reference. I'm still in awe.

Oh, thank you so much, Santa. That's really fantastic.

I love the sepia tone and the beautiful drawing. What a great idea.

Somehow I doubt, that da Vinci would have needed a living model for his vitruvian man, but this is Rodney after all. He needs his inspiration. And for inspiration John will always be the right man.

Thanks again.

Oh, I'm so glad you liked it! Thanks so much for the fun prompt.

And yes, exactly, that's what I meant by "no historical accuracy expressed or implied." I'm fairly certain Leonardo had no need of a specific model for his Vitruvian Man. But as you say, Rodney is his own man. ;D

I love how cheeky all of this is!! John's smirk; the strategic placement of the easel and Rodney's hand (Rodney's wee KNEES). And all of your work and skill!! Really, really wonderful! :D

Thank you! I had so much fun with it once [info]esteefee planted the idea in my head. It was the perfect chance to draw knees! (And if you want to learn how to draw knees, trust me, Leonardo is the artist to study.)

December 21 2011, 16:50:42 UTC 4 months ago

Eee I admire your skill at drawing John and Rodney's likeness. Does this mean Rodney's view of John has perfect proportions? :D

Also for some reason I like the column on the right and Rodney's hat a lot.

[info]crysothemis

January 2 2012, 15:19:49 UTC 4 months ago

*beams*

Thank you! And yes, that must be it. John is proportionally just right. ;D

Oh, but thank you for the comment about the hat! It took me three tries to get a hat that suited him and looked vaguely Renaissance-like. Rodney's head is very particular about these things.

December 21 2011, 17:23:51 UTC 4 months ago

omg, so brilliant, from the shading to the aged coloration of the drawing to John's MOST EXCELLENT KNEE to Rodney's adorable calf and the folds of his tunic to John's brilliant smirk (eee! you just know he's going to pounce over cheese and wine) and Rodney's delicious blush. also, what a terrific job on the dimensions of the room--the regularity of the tile and the walls and the column really make the figures pop as real. just wow.

[info]crysothemis

January 2 2012, 15:40:37 UTC 4 months ago

Ee, thank you! So glad you like this one, especially the knees. (Leonardo was amazing at knees. Anything that works here works because I was referencing the master.)

And of course I had to make the rest of the room a (vague attempt at a) perspective drawing. Nothing else would have been suitable. ;D

This is wonderful! Things I love about this: Rodney's blushing little face and pointy nose. Also his shapely calves. John's hair and the way the corner of the easel protects his modesty and frustrates the viewer. And even the poster of horse anatomy on the wall. The sepia color choice is very fitting, too.

[info]crysothemis

January 2 2012, 16:52:40 UTC 4 months ago

Thank you! Drawing the horse studies (which were done with direct reference to a sketch by Leonardo) was such an amazing learning experience. Damn, that man could draw.

Very nice AU drawing! Shepperd looks great as the Vitruvian man - and Rodney with the skirt and the little cap looks wonderful!

[info]crysothemis

January 7 2012, 18:22:00 UTC 4 months ago

Thanks so much! John wanted to be the smirkiest Vitruvian Man ever, and Rodney had to try on three hats before I found one that worked. ;)

December 23 2011, 05:58:12 UTC 4 months ago

Oh my god, wow! This is just amazing. I love John's smirk and Rodney's expression, the detail in Rodney's clothing (I love the detail in John's non-clothing, too), and the setting. I love this.

What a cool concept, and so beautifully executed! And very crafty hand and easel placement! *g*

[info]crysothemis

January 7 2012, 18:25:03 UTC 4 months ago

Thank you! I owe the concept to [info]esteefee. The hard part was getting the hand and easel in the right places. ;)

December 26 2011, 04:32:28 UTC 4 months ago

Love that deliberate positioning of the easel *g* Also John's 'bored, now going to think naughty thoughts' look as contrasted with Rodney's 'in the zone' concentration.

[info]crysothemis

January 7 2012, 18:27:04 UTC 4 months ago

Hee! I made the mistake of saying I don't draw full frontal. Apparently under the right circumstances, I do.

And yeah, John's definitely thinking naughty thoughts. Hopefully not too naughty, or Rodney will need to change a certain part of the drawing. ;D

January 4 2012, 02:38:39 UTC 4 months ago

Wonderful! Not only is the artistry technically amazing and very DaVinci, the choice of characterization is spot on. And I love the added detail of the horse studies on the wall, serving to balance the composition.

[info]crysothemis

January 7 2012, 18:30:57 UTC 4 months ago

Oh, thank you so much! Glad the casting worked for you. The horse studies are drawn directly from Leonardo's work as well. I swear, I learned a ton from using his work as reference. I should study the masters more often.
